INTERNATIONAL DJ LAUNCHES PREMIUM BREW WITH PROCEEDS BENEFITING THE MUSIC COMMUNITY

When nightlife across the globe came to a complete halt, the music industry suffered a huge toll. International DJ/Producer Neil Jackson saw an opportunity to pursue lifelong aspirations by fusing his passions for music, coffee, community and philanthropy.

New York City, NY - Introducing BRL Coffee Company - a collection of four premium single-origin roasts, originating from Ethiopia, Brazil, Guatemala and Indonesia. The high-quality beans are locally roasted and available for purchase in single bags or conveniently through a subscription service. Jackson performed a rigorous sampling process with dozens of beans before selecting the few in his product lineup. BRL Coffee Company has sold over 500 bags shipped to 30 states in its 9 weeks of operation.

The company name BRL stands for Beans, Rhymes and Life – a nod to one of Jackson’s favorite hip hop albums “Beats, Rhymes and Life” by A Tribe Called Quest. Each premium roast is named after a song that inspires the founder.

“Coffee should hit like hearing a good song first thing in the morning. There is nothing better,” Jackson explains.

Having launched this minority-owned business in a climate where so many have been impacted, charitable causes and communal goodwill are at the center of BRL Coffee Company’s culture. Proceeds from each BRL bag sold will help support a DJ in need.

Jackson shares, “When the pandemic shut down live events, it really exposed me to how vulnerable the DJ community is. There isn’t an association, guild or union to advocate for us, and I felt compelled to help.”

To create a sense of community while in lockdown, Jackson launched Beans, Rhymes, and Life, which airs weekdays at 10am EST on his Twitch channel. The program allows for a two-way dialogue with followers and Jackson was able to launch his coffee brand on the platform and immerse them in the experience of BRL Coffee and expression through music. To help support small businesses around NYC, every Sunday, Jackson cycles to a local bakery that offers treats that complement his BRL brews. This journey is live streamed on his Twitch channel and shared across Instagram, increasing engagement and boosting awareness for both brands along the way.
